AARP Smart Driver Improvement Course

The Council on Aging and AARP will be sponsoring a class for mature drivers (55 and over).

A driver improvement course can help senior drivers keep driving knowledge fresh and get the most out of your vehicle, while reducing risk to you, your passengers and others on the road.

AARP driver improvement courses may enable you to receive a discount on insurance premiums.

The class will be held at River House, 179 Marine Street, on Tuesday, June 20, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (30 min lunch break).

Reservations are required, please call 209-3655 to reserve your place. Cost at the door is $20 for AARP members and $25 for Non-AARP members.

You must bring your AARP Membership card to receive the discount. Please call 209-3655 or email tbennett@stjohnscoa.com.

The Sunshine Bus is Expanding!

The Teal Line will split into two routes and creating a new route called the Hastings Circulator, expanding service throughout Flagler Estates, additional rural areas in the Hastings area, and make a connection with Putnam County's transit service at Eastgate Plaza on US 17 in East Palatka! New service will start on June 1, 2017. www.sunshinebus.net

The Memory Enhancement Program is in Full Swing at Ponte Vedra Memory Care Center!

The COA Integrative Memory Enhancement Program at the Ponte Vedra Memory Care Center has openings for enrollment.

Class size is limited to 10 participants; fee for service with subsidies available for those who qualify.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT THE COA

Do you have a little time you can spare to make a big difference in our community?

SUNSHINE CENTER

180 Marine Street in St. Augustine

Volunteers needed Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday 3 - 4 pm to entertain small group of participants for sing-a-longs.

Volunteer needed Wednesday 1 - 4:30 pm to assist staff with activities such as art, trivia games, exercise.

Volunteer needed Tuesday or Wednesday 9 am - 12 noon to serve coffee and muffins and read current events.

Volunteer needed Friday 3 - 4:30 pm to assist with activities such as trivia games.

COASTAL COMMUNITY CENTER

180 Marine Street in St Augustine

Volunteer receptionist needed to answer phones and welcome visitors Thursday 10 am - 1 pm.

Volunteer needed to shop for bingo prizes once or twice a month.

Volunteer needed to assist with decorating dining room for special events.

THE PLAYERS COMMUNITY SENIOR CENTER

175 Landrum Lane in Ponte Vedra Beach

Volunteers needed for Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for activity check-in and reception.

Volunteers needed to help move tables for activities. Make new friends while joining us in a wide variety of both fun and informative social activities.

RIVER HOUSE

179 Marine St in St. Augustine

Volunteer instructors needed for classes on macramé and jewelry beading.

Volunteer pianist needed.

Volunteer videographer needed to film classes.

Volunteer needed to lead choral group for River House Chorus.

MEALS ON WHEELS

180 Marine St. in St Augustine

Volunteer drivers needed for weekly delivery of "Meals on Wheels" to senior shut-ins.
