As the area's largest private employer, Flagler Hospital is pleased to serve as the lead agency for the Youth Leadership St. Johns Program, which was founded as a service project of the 2001-02 St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce's Leadership St. Johns class. This important program provides a series of educational days designed to give select high school juniors a hands-on exploration of careers in St. Johns County.

"Flagler Hospital has been caring for our community since its founding in 1889," said Flagler Hospital CEO Joe Gordy. "We understand the importance of education and retaining top talent in St. Johns County. Our administration of this program further extends our commitment as we work to foster leadership in our community's young men and women."

Students learn the importance of teamwork and gain a better understanding of what it means to be a leader through the two-day opening retreat and then put those skills to use as they discover many aspects of the county over the course of eight program days (like Law Day, Social Services Day, and Business Day). At the end of the program, students will have met a number of key contacts throughout the community, gained a clear idea of what makes St. Johns County work, and created fun memories from the experience.

The class of 2017 kicked off their program at an opening retreat at Camp Montgomery in Keystone Heights earlier this Fall and held its first program day, visiting a number of businesses on October 4th.

Students interested in joining the class of 2018 can visit our website at and look under the About Us tab. All applications must be completed by March 9, 2018.
